In Brewster, Massachusetts he served the town for more than a decade as Chairman of the Stoney Brook Mill Sites. In 1961, Brian became the youngest elected Town Meeting Member in Weymouth, Massachusetts history. He often said that he was newly excited each time he flew to see Earth in its wider dimensions, laid out before him like a great map. As a Private Pilot, Brian flew for 51 years, mostly in tail-draggers and on floats.
